About Kickin Up Grass
Kickin Up Grass was a concept first energized in 2008 for the 35th annual Wilder Days event. Folks who attend this event enjoy music of the region and era where Laura Ingalls Wilder and her family spent most of their lives.
Having a competition, a sort of showdown, adds some buzz to the music events for the audiences. The Town Square in Mansfield has a darling gazebo that is perfect for the bands’ performance location. Centered in the Square, there is ample grassy area for the audience to spread out their lawn chairs and enjoy.
In 2008 and 2009, Big Country 99.3 FM Radio has been on hand to MC the day and the competition. Many times the competitors bring their own sound systems, but the Wilder Days Committee, owns an excellent sound system which is used to announce the day’s events. Even when competing bands bring their own, the audiences are better served with the system and can really enjoy the event.
If you are interested in competing, there are forms, flyers and all information you could want on links in the sidebar. Go for it!!! Or if you know someone who is interested, please MAKE THEIR DAY and tell them about Kickin Up Grass.
If you like to listen to good, competition quality bluegrass music, you will enjoy being part of the audience on September 19 in Manfield, Missouri.
